THE CAPITAL GRILLE
This restaurant is really a “Special Occasion” place to dine. How do I know this? Well, we were there in May to celebrate our anniversary and there were two other couples from Verandah also celebrating their anniversaries.
Appetizers – The appetizers at C.G. definitely have something for everyone. From a steakhouse staple Shrimp Cocktail with a Housemade Cocktail Sauce to The Capital Grille’s Signature Appetizer – Pan Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers, I have loved every appetizer I have had at this restaurant.
Where salads are concerned, you can’t go wrong with the Wedge. This salad is served with cherrywood smoked bacon and Wisconsin bleu cheese. To shake things up a bit, try the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad with Crushed Pistachios and a Citrus Vinaigrette. This salad has mixed greens, roasted red beets, whipped goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes and an arugula pesto.
Entrees – While I think I might try the seafood entrees like the Seared Sea Scallops with Maine Lobster and Asparagus Risotto or the Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Miso Butter, I always get the beef. My favorite cut is the Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye- Rare, the other steak I can recommend is the Kona-Crusted Dry Aged Bone-In NY Strip with a Shallot Butter.
These entrees are very generous but if you want a “side” there are a couple I can recommend. Remember, these sides are meant to be shared. The Au Gratin Potatoes are thickly sliced and layered with Swiss and Grana Padano cheeses – Yummy. There are two Spinach sides offered at C.G. The Sautéed Spinach is prepared with a Garlic Confit and the Creamed Spinach has a classic Bechamel sauce.
Dessert – While I rarely have room for dessert there are two I have sampled. The cheesecake is New York style and is served with seasonal berries and the Flourless Chocolate Cake is prepared with Belgian chocolate and decaffeinated Hawaiian espresso.
While I still consider this a “Special Occasion” restaurant, as I finish writing this review, I am calling The Capital Grille to make a reservation.
The Capital Grille is located at 5070 Bell Tower Shop Avenue, Fort Myers, FL 33907
