As we enter the 2026 hurricane season, preparedness remains one of the most important responsibilities we share as a community. Living in Southwest Florida means recognizing both the beauty of our environment and the realities of severe weather. While no plan can eliminate all risk, thoughtful preparation significantly improves safety, response efficiency, and recovery outcomes. The 2026 VCA Hurricane Preparedness Guide has been updated for this storm season. You can access the 2026 guide on the community website https://www.vcalife.com/documents/hurricane-guide/.
This year’s Hurricane Preparedness Guide has been developed to provide residents with clear, practical information before, during, and after a storm event. The guide begins with steps for creating a personal and household emergency plan, ensuring that each resident is equipped to make timely and informed decisions. It also includes a comprehensive list of public shelters throughout the county for those who may need to evacuate.
In addition, the guide outlines the Association’s hurricane preparedness and response protocols. These measures are designed to secure common areas, protect critical infrastructure, and coordinate communication with residents throughout a storm event. Following a storm, the Association’s debris removal policy establishes an organized and compliant approach to cleanup, helping restore the community as safely and efficiently as possible.
Preparation is a shared effort. Residents are encouraged to review this guide carefully, make necessary arrangements in advance, and remain attentive to official communications during storm season. By working together, we can strengthen our community’s resilience and readiness for whatever the season may bring.
