Each year the Verandah community holds an election for people interested in serving on the VCA board. Depending on the year either three or four positions are filled for a two-year term.

In October nearly 700 homeowners cast votes for four open seats on the VCA board and reelected Mary Basile, Brian Parsons, and John Sample. They also elected BJ Perkins who lives in Sabal Point. She has been in Verandah for three years and previously served as the president of a homeowner’s association in Chicago.

At the October 15th VCA organizational meeting board members installed John Sample as president, Brian Parsons as vice-president, Mary Basile as secretary, and Jack Hauser as treasurer. The two-year terms for the remaining three board members will expire next October. These include Logan Campbell, Jack Hauser, and David Keeley. The board also expressed their deep appreciation for Linda Lach who served on the board for two years and was the liaison to the Landscape Committee.

On October 20th the VCA board met and approved the 2026 budget and homeowner assessments. The 2026 VCA budget totals $6,276,064. This is about a 10% increase from 2025. The principal reasons for the increase are: (1) care for neighborhood entry ways; (2) legal/audit expenses, and;(3) lawn maintenance expenses for new neighborhoods that have elected to be included in the VCA lawn maintenance program This increase is largely offset by an increase in revenue from those neighborhoods that will pay for their new lawn maintenance expenses.
